Gulls and Brine Flies

1 Gull and Brine Flies

Marty’s photos of the day #1893-B: This morning, I have two more photos from Deb’s and my Rock and Roll Road Trip, both taken yesterday evening.

Photo #2: Here’s one of the most interesting bird photos I have ever taken. Deb and I were on the causeway that crosses the Great Salt Lake out to Antelope Island and we pulled over to watch the birds. Deb pointed to something neither of us had seen before: gulls were purposely stirring up the brine flies and then racing through the swarms, swallowing as many flies as they could. It was so cool! And at the same time it gave me the willies—big time.
