Marty’s photo of the day #1855: I’m very much against allowing cattle to graze on public lands, as it damages the ecosystem, and ranchers pay such small grazing fees that the money can’t possibly replace what they take from the rest of us. I also find it incredibly hypocritical that Republicans rail against welfare for the poor, yet they consistently back grazing welfare for wealthy ranchers and corporate welfare for giant corporations.
Anyway, I don’t fault the cows for any of this. In fact, I love cows. I took this photo near the US Forest Service Cabin we rented in southwestern Montana last weekend. This cow and I had a long stare down, in a stunning location. Eventually I backed off and headed in a different direction.
