Marty Essen on the Rick Steves Radio Show

Rick Steves and Marty Essen

Yesterday, I recorded two interviews with famed travel author Rick Steves, The interviews will run this spring and summer on the Travel with Rick Steves Radio Show, which airs on roughly 400 radio stations from coast to coast. I knew Rick Steves was popular, but it was amazing walking into the Rick Steves’ Europe Building (located just north of Seattle, in Edmunds). Downstairs is an entire store of books, t-shirts, luggage, daypacks, DVDs maps, and tour kits—all with Rick Steves’ name on them! Upstairs is the recording studio.

I was on Rick’s show once before, but I had recorded my half of the interview at the Montana Public Radio studios. I was glad that this time I was able to do the interviews in-person with Rick, as half the fun was watching his facial expressions as he listened to my stories. What a fun day!
