Nature photography, political rants, and Martyman laughs from the ten-time award-winning author of "Cool Creatures, Hot Planet" and "Endangered Edens."

Viceroy Butterfly

Viceroy Butterfly

Marty’s photo of the day #1578: I photographed this viceroy butterfly two days ago while hiking in Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park in Florida three days ago. I was so surprised it turned out, as I had only a split-second to set up the shot before the butterfly flew away. Viceroy butterflies are considered monarch butterfly mimics, and I write about them in my new book “Endangered Edens.”
