Peacock Feather

Marty’s photo of the day #1526: One of the most destructive things humans do is transport animals to areas where they are not native and release them. Sometimes we do it unintentionally—such as rats coming off ships and devastating the indigenous animals on islands; sometimes we do it intentionally, such as releasing cane toads in Australia. We humans really do know how to destroy a planet!

You are looking at a close-up of a peacock feather. We have two peacocks living near our house, and they’ve been here for years. I don’t think feral peacocks cause any problems, living far from their native territory, but I do think they give the wild turkeys that they hang-out with an inferiority complex.
